ThermaWall XTRM2600 – Unitized Efficiency for Mid-to-High Rise Projects

ThermaWall XTRM2600 is a fully unitized, thermally broken curtain wall system designed for medium to high-rise buildings.It brings all the superior thermal performance of Alumicor’s stick-built ThermaWall 2600 into an innovative unitized format. The result is a façade that not only meets rigorous energy codes but also greatly accelerates on-site construction.

Superior Thermal Performance

XTRM2600 features a polyamide thermal break and proprietary gaskets that together provide outstanding insulation and condensation resistance. Unitized Construction

Speed & Quality: Panels are pre-fabricated and pre-glazed in the factory, allowing fabrication under controlled conditions. Ready-to-install units are delivered to site and simply connected onto the building structure, dramatically reducing field installation time and cost. The facade can be closed up quickly, enabling interior trades to start sooner and keeping the project schedule on track. No external scaffolding is required – installers can work from the building’s interior, improving safety and logistics.
Flexible Installation (Side-Load or Rotational)

The system supports true side-load or rotational installation of panels. This flexibility helps installers maneuver large units into place even in constrained site conditions. It simplifies the setting of units floor by floor, making the construction process more forgiving and adaptable to different building geometries or crane positions.
Robust Structural Design

ThermaWall XTRM2600 is built to handle the demands of high-rise performance. It accommodates structural movements and building sway via engineered stack joints and expansion joints in each unit. A full perimeter structural silicone seal on all glazing ensures reliable water-tightness with no leaks. The system can be configured with either capped (visible mullion caps for a classic look) or structural silicone glazed (SSG) for a seamless glass exterior, and supports double or triple glazing options for enhanced acoustic and thermal properties. Importantly, the design includes specialized glass support to eliminate dead-load stress on the thermal break, preserving long-term integrity.
Design Compatibility

Despite being a standard system, XTRM2600 is flexible to meet design needs. It can incorporate accent features like deep caps, custom sunshades, or louvers, and handle high wind loads or unique facade geometry. This adaptability means architects aren’t constrained – you get the benefits of a unitized system without sacrificing creative design elements.

ThermaWall SM2600 – High-Performance Split Mullion Curtain Wall (Pre-Glazed)

ThermaWall SM2600 is a high-performance, pre-fabricated split-mullion curtain wall system that combines the advantages of unitized and stick-built systems. With a 2½” (~63.5 mm) slim profile, it delivers a sleek look and robust performance. The “SM” stands for Split Mullion: each panel includes half of the vertical mullion profile, which snaps together with its neighbor during installation. This allows for pre-glazing in the shop and rapid assembly on site, much like unitized panels, while offering the flexibility of a mullion stack system.

Commercial Application

An excellent solution for mid-rise office buildings, low-to-mid rise curtain walls, and retrofits where a fully unitized approach might not be feasible. It’s also suitable for projects that require shop-controlled glazing quality but need to accommodate simpler or more cost-effective anchoring methods on site.
Pre-Glazed for Quality

SM2600 units are assembled and glazed in the factory, ensuring superior quality control (no water infiltration or glazing issues) before they ever reach the site. This means the beauty of a flawless glass façade and the confidence of tested performance. Once on site, installers simply align and connect the split mullions of adjacent units – a process that is faster and less error-prone than traditional stick-built glazing.
Streamlined Installation

The split-mullion “stack” design allows panels to snap together quickly, making installation efficient. The system includes expansion and stack joints at each module interface to handle thermal expansion and building movements. Because panels are smaller than full unitized story-heights (often spanning floor-to-floor), they can be lighter and easier to handle, possibly eliminating the need for heavy-duty cranes. This can reduce installation equipment costs and simplify the logistics on constrained sites.
Flexible Mullion Depths & Glazing Options

Available with mullion depths of 5¼” or 6⅝” (133.5 mm / 168.3 mm), SM2600 can accommodate structural requirements for different building heights and wind loads. It supports both double and triple glazing, enabling enhanced thermal and acoustic performance. For a cutting-edge look, the system offers four-sided structural silicone glazing (SSG) capability, yielding an all-glass façade aesthetic (with silicone-sealed joints) if desired. Alternatively, a variety of pressure plate caps are available to create shadow lines or accentuate mullions, giving designers aesthetic choices.
Integration & Performance

SM2600 is fully compatible with Alumicor’s operable window and door inserts– meaning you can seamlessly add operable vents or integrate entrance systems without bespoke adaptors. It has been rigorously tested to AAMA 501 standards (the industry benchmark for curtain wall performance, including structural loading, air/water infiltration, and dynamic movement). This assures that the system will perform in real-world conditions, protecting the building and its occupants. Additionally, multiple anchoring options (from simplified anchors for cost savings to more complex ones for heavy-duty support) are available to suit project budgets and engineering needs.
